The bags that started it all. Back in 1998, Roland and Ellie created the “Courier”, at the time our only model, and what is now known as the XL Messenger. As our customer base grew, it became apparent we would need to re-imagine the original sling bag in a number of smaller sizes. In the decades that have passed, we’ve fine-tuned our Messengers to fit better, last longer, and be even more versatile than ever before. Starting with a weatherproof main compartment, heavyweight, 2” wide velcro keeps the main flap closed, while lengthy straps emerge from the base of the bag should you require extra security via quick release buckles. Not using the straps? They can be clipped out of the way, underneath the lip of the bag. A removable, quick release waist strap doubles as an adjustable sternum/ anti-sway strap when worn across the body.
Our Classic Messenger calls back to the origins of courier bags, and features our throwback Classic strap, which is thick, heavyweight diver's belt nylon. Threaded through our original nickel plated buckle, it adjusts from the hip, and offers a superb level of versatility once broken in. While it may not be the most intuitive strap in our lineup, for those that have used similar systems in the past (either old R.E.Load bags, or maybe even older DiMartini bags), it's a favorite. And we’ll set it up for use on either your left or right shoulder, whichever you prefer.
